Description
The Battle of Okeechobee Re-Enactment and Festival is set for February 24 & 25. This festival commemorates the largest and fiercest battle of the Second Seminole War. The original battle was fought on Christmas Day in 1837. Part of the original battleground has been preserved as a state park on 3500 SE 38th Ave (Off of US HWY 441 SE) in Okeechobee. Gates open at 10:00 AM and close at 4 PM. Re-enactments are at 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day festival will also include alligator wrestling, a living history camp, artisans, Seminole arts, horse rides for the kids, and folk music.
