PTC9-092324-6PM Okeechobee County Advisory on Potential Tropical Cyclone 9

As of Monday, September 23, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Okeechobee County has these important updates:
  • Okeechobee County emergency officials are continuing to monitor Potential Tropical Cyclone (PTC) 9. Okeechobee County is currently not under any Watches or Warnings. The County can expect increased rainfall, possible tornados, localized wind gusts, and hazardous boating conditions as PTC 9 passes through the Gulf of Mexico over the coming days.
  • At this time, the Emergency Operations Center remains at a level 3 monitoring activation and continues to encourage the community to monitor the Okeechobee County Government Facebook page, local news, radio, and television. A Community INFORMATION CALL LINE is also available Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 863-763-3536. Please remember to:
  • SANDBAGS will be available at the Public Works Department Compound located at 804 NW 2nd Street. Limited bags (10/vehicle) and shovels will be available at the site at no charge beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Citizens will be required to fill their own bags, however, if you are a special needs resident and require assistance with sandbags please call 863-763-3514 between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sandbags will be available after 5:00 p.m. with no assistance available.
